This is a classic Indonesian jus alpukat (avocado shake or smoothie) with no secret ingredient. Jus Alpukat definitely makes a decadent breakfast or on-the-go snack!
Jus Alpukat…that’s how we call it in Indonesia. Alpukat, or avocado, is something that I enjoy for dessert back home. Some of the shave ice menus come with avocado as one of the ingredients and it blends really well with other fruits. It was until I came to the U.S. I started eating avocado for an appetizer or main entree. I remembered my first time having a toast with avocado and a fried egg that was just out of this world! It was so good and I recreated the memories here.
I love avocados and have been enjoying them daily for breakfast now. I like eating it fresh with a touch of salt and cayenne pepper or turning it into a Chocolate Avocado Pudding. But today I’m sharing an avocado recipe that is close to my heart because this is something I grew up eating…and sometimes you just want to have this jus alpukat (avocado shake) for breakfast.
The ingredients
Making jus alpukat at home is so easy and you will need
- Avocado as the main ingredient
- Milk. You will need two types of milk. Almond milk and condensed milk to sweeten the smoothie
- Coffee. Adding coffee to an avocado smoothie is optional; however, you should give it a try if you’re into coffee. Or you can try this Avocado Dalgona Coffee
- Garnish. I use chocolate syrup and chocolate sprinkles
Note: this jus alpukat recipe was created using medium size avocados. If you are using different sizes of avocado, you might need to adjust the milk.
The main tool
I am using my Blendtec 725 to make this shake. Have I told you how much I love this blender? The Blendtec Designer 725 is truly the blender with a brain and it comes with six preprogrammed custom cycles that enable one-touch blending perfection: Smoothie, Salsa, Ice Cream, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, and Clean. The Designer 725 even suggests additional uses for each cycle so you know how to get the most from your blender.
If you love avocado, you’ll love this jus alpukat recipe! It is great for breakfast or dessert, and the perfect cool, creamy treat or snack for summer.
