Blueberry Peach Smoothie or Blueberry Peach Slushies. No matter what you call this, it is a perfect way to beat the summer heat! This delicious blueberry and peach smoothie is a pretty, refreshing, and energizing way to start the day!
I love this time of the year when the weather is not too hot and not too cold, though it is still windy, and you still need to layer yourself. But the best part about summertime in the Bay area is fresh fruit. I love seeing new flavors lately, like cotton candy grapes, gummy berries grapes, the sweetest strawberries, and so much more.
Last month, I had the freshest and sweetest mangoes, and just in time to make this tropical lavash with mango and coconut, which I shared the recipe for on Instagram. If we’re not friends on Instagram yet, let’s do it!
And it was last Saturday when I went to a farmer’s market nearby and spotted cotton candy peaches. I was like…really? How sweet can it be? So, I asked for a sample and proved it was sweet enough to make this smoothie or ice cream.
But first, what is your favorite smoothie recipe or combination?
Smoothie has always been a favorite in our home. Forget summertime. We also have a smoothie in the winter using frozen fruit. Yes, that’s how much we love smoothies and a friendly way to sneak in some dark leafy vegetables, nuts, maca powder, spirulina, greek yogurt, or almond milk. It’s smoothie perfect!
Can you freeze peaches?
Yes! In fact, it is so simple. Wash them, let them dry, then keep them on a sheet pan in the freezer with the skins on. Once they are frozen solid, put them into freezer bags so you can skip canning from now on.
Do smoothies need ice?
Yes and no. Some smoothies need ice cubes if the combination has too much liquid; however, I usually include frozen fruits, so it does not need ice cubes most of the time.
What is the best blender for smoothies?
Vitamix and Blendtec always score the highest. If you often make smoothies, it might be time to invest in a smoothie blender. I like using Blendtec because it comes with a nice feature and a clean look.
Now to the RECIPE!
I haven’t shared a peach recipe this summer…so this is one of the many peach recipes you’ll see. Quick and easy layered smoothies or slushies that everyone will enjoy.
- Blueberries. Use fresh fruits whenever possible
- Peaches. About four medium fresh peach
- Honey or date syrup as a sweetener
- Sparkling water and ice to thicken the smoothie
This recipe is also super customizable. Add some cold Moscato to make this slushie an adult version.
How to make a blueberry peach smoothie
- Add peaches, one tablespoon of honey or date syrup, 1/2 cup of sparkling water, and 1/2 of ice to a blender. Blend on high for 20-30 seconds.
- Add the blueberries, the remaining honey or date syrup, sparkling water, and ice in a clean blender. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds. (Blending the blueberries longer than the peaches ensures the skins get blended.)
- Pour onto glasses alternately. Serve immediately.
